The Personas
Each Heroic Hearts persona is a veteran or military family member with a unique background, trauma history, medical file and communication style — so you can prepare for the full range of people you'll serve.
Rebecca is a 21-year-old Lakota Army veteran discharged after an MST and a failed drug test. She is intermittently suicidal, profoundly mistrustful of every institution that was supposed to protect her, and radically economical with words. Her silence is not absence — it is how she survives.
Ashanti is a 36-year-old Air Force pilot who was medically discharged after a Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis ended her twelve-year career. Analytical, composed, and armored by performance, she is carrying a post-ceremony memory she hasn't processed and a private terror that slowing down will mean falling apart.
Marcus is a 38-year-old Army infantry veteran carrying the weight of combat loss, a mild TBI, and years of failed treatment cycles. Outwardly blunt and armored with sarcasm, he holds a buried hope that something human inside him is still worth recovering.
D'Wayne is a 28-year-old gay former Army infantryman who passed Special Forces selection but never saw combat. He left the military feeling like a fraud — not enough of a soldier, not enough of a man, not enough of anything. He fills the emptiness with ultra-marathons, sarcasm, and constant motion, but underneath is a man who is secretly exhausted and desperate to believe he belongs without having to earn it.
Caroline is a 36-year-old Marine Corps spouse who has spent her entire adult life holding her family together. Now that her husband is finally healing, she is quietly unraveling — realizing she has no identity outside of caretaking and no language for her own needs.
Heroic Hearts Project (HHP) is a nonprofit that has spent the last nine years developing and refining a veteran-centered model of psychedelic care. Through the Heroic Hearts Process, structured screening, preparation, legal psychedelic retreat programs, integration, and long-term community support, HHP has helped veterans, spouses, and families navigate meaningful healing and lasting change. Alongside direct service, HHP is helping scale access to high-quality care through practitioner training, research, and advocacy efforts focused on building the next generation of safe, veteran-informed psychedelic support.

The Heroic Hearts personas were designed by their team from the patterns, challenges, and lessons distilled from more than 1,500 people they've served through the Heroic Hearts Process — then developed in close collaboration with Sabba to bring them to life in Praxis. At every stage, the partnership focused on respect for this community, clinical fidelity, and training usefulness.
